Inter Stellar Emergance
Remarkably, our entrance into InterStellar Space was invisible! It took 13 months of processing data to verify August 25, 2012 as the exact date Voyager 1 entered Inter Stellar Space, crossing beyond our Sun's sphere of influence, a boundary called the heliopause.
But unlike Voyager's famous 1990 "Pale Blue Dot”
& "Solar System Family Portrait" photos
there are no new images to see.
Voyager's cameras are off to conserve energy.
Its up to us to illuminate this milestone!

I propose our Light Year Calender begins on the first Equinox after Voyager's historic entry into Inter Stellar Space
thus:

Equinox is a time of balance
where the Earth experiences equal hours of day and nightI A
As Cosmic as it seems, its actually a practical, day to day physical state that is experienced by all Life
Our ancestors, around the Globe & through out time,
celebrated the Solstic and Equinoxes
as self evident points that punctuate our celestrial cycle
I believe these are the perfect puctuation points for us too
Why do the seasons happen like they do?
All Earth experiences cycling Seasons. Resulting from our wobbling rotation around the Sun. The north and south hemispheres alternate facing farthest/ closest to the Sun.
This repeating pattern is experienced by the whole Planet,
so its easy to see when its happening
